Firm Transition: Letter to the Toler Financial Group Community
This summer, we’ve had the chance to connect with most of you to discuss our upcoming back office transition from Cambridge to Rossby Financial. We look forward to making this process painless in the coming weeks. This email recaps what we shared with you about the transition and gives you concrete action items to look for in the coming days. Action steps highlighted below if you want to jump to those.
Why Transition to Rossby Financial?
After 9 good years with Cambridge Investment Research providing us with supervision and service, we feel we are outgrowing Cambridge’s technology platform. We hear that clients and staff find it frustrating to log onto multiple platforms to view accounts, statements, tax forms and client performance data. Toler Financial Group (TFG) is serious about high-touch service and a solid technological interface. On August 16, 2024, we will be moving our client accounts, back office and compliance functions from Cambridge to Rossby Financial – a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).
After the transition, you will have a single login to a new Client Portal where you will find your accounts, statements, tax forms and performance data. This Portal will be intuitive and easy to access, including from your mobile device. As a bonus, TFG will be able to serve clients who live outside the US.
What will stay the same?
TFG will remain a fully independent firm, focused on excellent service for our clients and community. We will continue to offer all types of investments, with specific expertise in socially responsible investing. Our advisory team will stay the same (and we’re growing!), and our office and contact information will remain the same. eMoney will continue to be our platform for financial planning, and all information and work we’ve done together will continue to be available to you. Our investment fees will be nearly the same (click here [https://tolerfinancialgroup.com/planning-3/] for the specifics), with minor changes to keep it simple. Investment accounts will move from National Financial Services (NFS) to Charles Schwab, and the investment approach of your portfolios will remain the same.
What’s Next – beginning August 22:
- Each client household will receive one Advisory Agreement, via DocuSign. This will come from Toler Financial Group
- If two partners are in your household, each person will sign.
- Each investment account will receive account opening applications, via DocuSign.
- Each individual account holder will sign (e.g., IRA applications and individual investment accounts signed only by the account holder).
- Joint investment accounts signed by both account owners.
- There may be one or more DocuSign documents from Charles Schwab for you to complete.
- Clients with annuities will receive a separate DocuSign to re-register their annuity with TFG – this will likely come somewhat later than the other agreements.
- For financial planning clients who are still in the payment stage; You will receive new invoices through AdvicePay once we transition. If your payment schedule includes a payment in August, this payment will be skipped and made up after the transition.
Over the next few weeks, before your account transfer is complete, your account information will continue to be viewable in Wealthscape. Later in September, we will send an announcement letting you know the Client Portal is live, where you can view all your accounts, along with instructions for accessing it. Although there may be paperwork and technology glitches as a part of this process, we want to assure you that at no time will the security of your accounts be in danger.
If you have specific concerns, please call the office 301-825-8705 or email your advisor.
We thank you in advance for your patience as we make this important change for our collective future. We look forward to working with you!
Warmly,
The TFG team
